Camp Blanding led 2025-2026 WMA deer checks

FWC check-station and sign-out rows put Camp Blanding at 193 recorded deer in 2025-2026. The rank is a station count, not a herd score or a personal odds sheet.

A Saturday at a staffed station can fill a card box while a walk-in tract down the road never seats anyone at a table. Hunters still read those cards as a picture of the deer. On the areas in this report the card is only what the station or the sign-out sheet wrote down.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission keeps harvest reports for public hunting areas with operating check stations and/or harvest sign-out sheets. FWC says recorded harvest totals are subject to change as potential errors are identified and corrected. Not all public hunting areas have check stations. Many do not operate check stations on a daily basis. FWC says 100 percent of the areas' harvest may not be accounted for. The same page says the figures are offered for informational purposes only and should not be used for biological comparisons between areas.

This rank uses the 2025-2026 statewide All Seasons table from the WMA harvest report. We opened it on 10 October 2026. The table has 275 season rows and 57 area names. FWC does not print a statewide deer total on that page. Adding every Total Deer cell comes to 2538 deer. 51 area names sum above zero. 6 names sum to zero. Those six are STA 1 West, STA 2, STA 3/4, T.M. Goodwin, Myakka State Forest, and the row named Babcock/Webb WMA- Punta Gorda Water Trtmt (884 acres). Camp Blanding in the North Central region is the high name at 193. The deer management unit telephone survey is a different project and it is not in this table.

IRecorded deer

Camp Blanding's season cells add to 193

Each row is one area and one season type. The Total Deer cell already equals the doe cell plus the buck cell plus the antlerless buck cell on that row. We checked all 275 rows and the three sex cells matched Total Deer on every row. The area figure below is our sum of those Total Deer cells. We did not merge names the report keeps apart.

Areas with the most recorded deer in the 2025-2026 by-season table, summed from each area's Total Deer cells.

Camp Blanding's 193 is archery 54, family 16, general gun dog 43, general gun still 41, and muzzleloading gun 39. Apalachee's 152 is archery 46, general gun 105, and muzzleloading gun 1. Three Lakes' 145 is archery 28, general gun 63, general gun dog 5, mobility-impaired general gun 16, and muzzleloading gun 33.

IISplit names

The report already separated the big tracts

Green Swamp's 131 is archery 29 and general gun 102. Green Swamp- West Unit is a second name at 63. That 63 is special-opportunity archery 17 and special-opportunity general gun 46. Three Lakes- Praire Lakes is spelled Praire on the report and it is not inside the Three Lakes total. Archery recorded 2. General gun recorded 19. Muzzleloading gun recorded 15. Those three cells add to 36. Babcock/Webb's 141 is archery 60, general gun 78, and muzzleloading gun 3. Babcock/Webb- Yucca Pens is a separate name and its deer cells add to 1.

IIIZero days

Two areas recorded deer on rows with no hunter days

Croom's 119 is general gun 60 and muzzleloading gun 59. Both of those rows print 0 hunter days. Citrus recorded archery 46 deer on 61 hunter days, then general gun 16 and muzzleloading gun 35 on rows that print 0 hunter days. A days-per-deer figure from a zero day row is not a number this table can support. Our rule is to skip the rate.

Hunter days on a deer row are still not a clean pressure score for the whole area. Green Swamp general gun recorded 102 deer and 8899 hunter days. Green Swamp archery recorded 29 deer and 2370 hunter days. The Green Swamp spring turkey row recorded 0 deer and 3387 hunter days. Folding that turkey row into a deer rate would count days when the table itself recorded no deer.

IVLive year

2026-2027 is already on the menu and still thin

We opened that year setting on 10 October 2026. The table had 31 rows. Region was statewide. Season filter was all seasons. Those Total Deer cells add to 292. The 2025-2026 table had 275 rows and 2538 deer. FWC says harvest totals for any given area should be updated approximately 1 to 2 weeks following a hunt. Our rule is to rank 2025-2026 and to read 2026-2027 as a year still receiving hunt rows. The 2026-2027 season-date page says those seasons, dates, and bag limits do not apply to wildlife management areas. A zone calendar does not close a WMA station.

VSurvey wall

The DMU phone survey is another method

FWC's statewide annual harvest report is a June 2024 telephone sample of licensed deer hunters about the 2023-2024 season, summarized for 12 deer management units. Hunters were asked where they hunted and how many deer they harvested. The where question included county or WMA. That page is an estimate from a sample. The WMA table is a recorded count from check stations and sign-out sheets. The survey year on that page is 2023-2024. The station table in this paper is 2025-2026. We left the survey estimates out of the ranking so a sample and a station count never share a column.

VIOur rule

Add one spelled name for one year

Open the by-season report. Set the report to statewide or your region. Set all seasons. Set 2025-2026. Find every row that uses your area's name the way the report spells it. Add the Total Deer cells. If the name is absent, this report did not record the area. An absent name is not one of the 6 printed zeros. Do not add Green Swamp to Green Swamp- West Unit, Three Lakes to Three Lakes- Praire Lakes, or Babcock/Webb to Yucca Pens. Do not divide by hunter days when a deer row shows 0. Do not borrow a deer management unit estimate to fill a hole. FWC already said these totals should not be used for biological comparisons between areas. A larger recorded total can be more deer through the station, more days with a station open, a bigger hunt, or some mix of those. The table does not say which.
