Iowa Deer Hunting, County by County

99 Iowa counties ranked by a provisional FDR Deer Herd Index Provisional. A 0–100 score built from Iowa DNR county deer harvest (bucks/does/button) plus public-land access. Click any county for the free report: multi-year harvest trend, herd metrics and public land.

This index is provisional: Provisional index covering herd quality, harvest density, harvest trend, habitat (public-land access), trophy (the Trophy Index) and a roadway crash rate; the roadway input counts animal-involved crashes because Iowa publishes no deer-only crash code. It is computed from what is real in the public harvest record plus public-land access. The Trophy Index ranks each county 0 to 100 against every county we cover. Ranked per acre of bow-huntable land (10 m estimate).
